Cittadella dei Giovani hosted around 50 researchers from the National Institute for Astrophysics from all over Italy to discuss the state of the art in exoplanet research during the ninth GAPS meeting. The event was organised by the scientific project managers in collaboration with the Clément Fillietroz-ONLUS Foundation, which manages the Astronomical Observatory of the Autonomous Region of Valle d'Aosta and the Lignan Planetarium, with the support of the Valle d'Aosta Convention & Visitors Bureau.
With 7 rooms available, a maximum capacity of 575 people and a central location, Cittadella dei Giovani was the ideal venue for combining the organisation of an important scientific conference with the cultural attractions of the regional capital.
Thanks to the location of this facility, participants were able to attend high-level presentations while having the historic centre of Aosta and its attractions within easy reach. In fact, from the Arch of Augustus (located 100 metres from Ciitadella dei Giovani) to Piazza della Repubblica, all the sites of Aosta's Roman history are within easy walking distance.
Finally, Jean-Marc Christille, director of the C. Fillietroz ONLUS Foundation, expressed his gratitude for the organisation of the event: ‘We would like to thank the Valle d'Aosta Convention & Visitors Bureau for their valuable organisational support and the Cittadella dei Giovani for their availability and hospitality.'
For those who love unusual and evocative locations, the surprises do not end there. Saint-Barthélemy Astronomical Observatory is one of four places in the world where a research and observation project is underway to monitor red dwarf stars to verify the possible existence of other planets suitable for life, in conditions similar to those on Earth. It is a special place for organising presentations and demonstrations, offering a different, exclusive and unforgettable experience.
